Best Places to Visit in Napa
For my birthday last month we took a trip to Napa. It is one of my favorite places to do a weekend getaway because while its only an hour away, it feels like you are in another country. The green rolling hills and crisp California air give me so much peace. In this blog post I want to give you guys my highlights of things to do, places to eat and where to stay.
Stay: The North Block Hotel
This cute California style hotel feels cozy and quaint. Each room is like its own little villa. There is a fireplace and a big bath tub to make you feel right at home. The best part is that it’s walking distance from a ton of tasting rooms, restaurants and shops right in Yontville.
Eat: French Laundry
I have been wanting to eat at French Laundry since I heard about it years ago. It’s an amazing, little country farm house made into a luxury Michelin star restaurant. The meal was 10 courses with everything from soup, to salad, seafood, beef and everything in between. While the menu is pre planned for the night they are willing to accommodate any dietary restrictions. I got a super decadent gluten free chocolate birthday cake at the end with gluten free cinnamon sugar donuts! Its definitely an indulgence and a once in a lifetime experience I would highly recommend. Even if you don’t splurge on a meal, you can still walk through their gorgeous garden right across the street
If you’re looking for a delicious yet casual lunch spot, Mustard’s is the place to go. They have hearty portions to soak up all that alcohol from wine tasting all day! I loved the tuna crackers and the farmers salad. Plus at the end of the meal we had the most amazing lemon meringue pie!
Eat: Farmstead at Longmeadow Ranch
For a more casual dinner option, try the Farmstead. Its both a restaurant and a winery. The restaurant looks like a chic barn with high ceilings. And the menu is even better, offering a variety of options from dover sole and kale salad (that’s what I had!) to burgers and meatloaf!
For a spa day on Sunday, I ventured down the street to the Bardessono hotel for a facial and a massage. The earthy modern hotel is so gorgeous and the spa experience is one of the most luxurious. The treatments are all inspired by the seasons to give you exactly what you need. For me, since its winter, we focused on enhancing my immune system and boosting circulation. It was the perfect way to end the trip
Winery: Opus One
There are so many wineries in Napa, and they are probably all amazing. But my favorite is Opus One. This is actually the first winery that I visited the first time I ever wen to Napa 5 years ago. It’s my favorite because Opus is my family’s favorite wine. The first time my parents ever let me have a sip of wine it was Opus, so it holds so many memories and so much meaning to me. Not only is it a valuable family favorite, but the vineyard itself is so beautiful. It’s a big estate set in the front of the vineyard. If you schedule a private tour you can see everything from the vineyards, to the tasting rooms and even the lab where the wine is finished!
There is so much to see and do in Napa, the options are really endless. I would definitely recommend renting bikes to take you from vineyard to vineyard and spending at least one day without a plan and seeing where the road takes you. Just one weekend away up there will bring you so much peace and relaxation. Cheers!
