Why I Made the Switch to Non-Toxic Beauty Products

I recently made the change to non-toxic beauty products, and to be honest I was a little apprehensive at first. I couldn’t imagine that non-toxic organic beauty products would be as good as the original “crap” I had been putting all over my face. But I was willing to sacrifice looks (to an extent), to make sure I was protecting my insides.

So, I’m sure so many of you are thinking “WHY?” or “why NOW?”. Well, I will be totally honest with you guys, Chad and I are trying to start a family sometime this year, and I didn’t want a future baby soaking up any of the toxins that are in many lotions, makeup products or shampoos and conditioners. These toxins cause a multitude of issues from miscarriages to cancer. I also wanted to give my body time to detox all of the crap it has been accumulating from the products I had been using for so many years. Finally, I live such a clean lifestyle already this was the last transition to having everything be organic, non – toxic and cruelty free.

Before I share my favorite non-toxic products, I want to share some of the harmful toxins that could be lurking on your beauty counter that you definitely want to be aware of:

  • Phthalates- can be harmful to the endocrine system, reproductive health

  • Lead – has been found to cause miscarriages

  • Quaternium 15 – classified as a human  carcinogen and can cause cancer

  • Peg compounds – can cause birth defects and cancer

  • Butylated compounds – cause skin allergies, and are linked to organ, reproductive and developmental toxicity

  • Parabens – are linked to breast cancer and digestive issues

I am in no way trying to scare you, but rather educate our followers on a topic that I have done a ton of research on. I want you and your future children to be safe and toxin free! It was only six months ago that I was using regular beauty products but I have to tell you guys, the trade off is so worth it. I still have more to learn but I love sharing what I do know to be true.

That being said, I want to share some of my favorite products that I use now and I know to be trusted!

Let me know some of your favorite non-toxic beauty brands and products in the comments below!
