How I Get Ready for a Workout

OK so you guys know how much I love being active! I’m always down to try the newest workout class or get sweaty in a yoga sesh. Being active takes a little effort though. I’m not one of those people that can roll out of bed and throw on an old sorority t-shirt and tennies and hit the pavement (kudos if this is you!).

 

When I’m working out, I’m trying to look cute as well! And NO I don’t mean that girl you see at the gym with a full face of makeup on her cell phone (sorry if this is you), but before I head out of the house I make an effort to look like I’ve put in a bit of effort to make me feel most confident during my workout. I always start my mornings the same way.

Step 1

I hop out of bed and go straight to my sink where I brush my teeth , wash my face with Dr. Lancers cleanser, polish and nourish and put my hair in a pony.

Step 2

Then I grab my tinted moisturizer – I love the "Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream" from IT cosmetics. It has great coverage and the medium shade matches my skin so perfectly. I love it for a workout because its light enough and it has SPF 50 for if you’re out in the sun!

Step 3

Next, I always swipe on my Secret Clinical Strength Invisible Solid Deodorant just once for all-day protection. Even though I love to sweat, I don’t love to smell! It goes on dry with a smooth, even application so I don’t have to worry about it getting all over my cute workout outfits, or starting to smell in the middle of my workouts! Step 4

Finally I head out into the kitchen and whip up a matcha latte to give me the caffeine I will need to hit my workout hard!

Here's My Recipe!

  • ½ cup raw almond milk
  • 2 cups hot water
  • 1 heaping tablespoon matcha powder
  • Lots of cinnamon
  • Stevia to taste
  • Blend on low speed in a Vitamix for 30 seconds and pour over ice!

Step 5

I like to sit outside with my matcha before I leave the house so I can get a journal entry in. Calming my mind before I head into any kind of energy demanding workout is a super important way for me to start the day!

Finally I usually grab a Kind bar (I love these ones with 5 grams of sugar!) for some added energy and I’m out the door!

I know that routine seems pretty quick, but those extra 30 minutes in the morning really get me on the right foot to go into a work out! And every step is equally important. I’m all about looking good and feeling good throughout the day and that all begins with the way you start the day!
