5 Uses for Essential Oils

1.     Better Sleep

I think I speak for everyone when I say that you can never get enough sleep. The worst is when it is time to go to sleep, but your mind will just not turn off. My favorite essential oils to help me sleep are lavender and bergamot oil. I usually place 2-4 drops of Bergamot or Lavender in a warm, Chamomile tea about 30 minutes before bed.


2.     Allergy relief

I love spring because of all the beautiful flowers, warm weather, and sunshine. I do not love my allergies. The most frustrating symptom of allergies to me is itchy skin. It is no secret that chamomile has a calming effect. I like to add 2-3 drops of chamomile oil to a teaspoon of coconut oil and apply to red, itchy areas of skin.  


3.     Nausea relief

I am not the best passenger on road trips, just ask my boyfriend. I’ve tried Dramamine, but hate how drowsy I get. Peppermint oil has become a must on any trip for me. I simply add a few drops of Peppermint oil to a tissue and inhale…then I can enjoy the rest of the ride.


4.     Head ache relief

Of course ibuprofen works to relieve a head ache, but whenever I can- I like to use natural remedies. Eucalyptus is my saving grace after a long day. I dilute 2-4 drops of Eucalyptus oil with a carrier oil (olive oil, coconut oil, etc.) and then apply to my chest, neck, temples, and forehead.


5.     Muscle Relief

One of the best ways for me to relieve stress is working out. Sometimes I get a little carried away and do more than I should. Luckily, there is an essential oil to relief muscle pain, Arnicopeia or Rosemary oil. Because essential oils are extremely potent, the best thing for muscle pain is to put them in massage oils.
